SALT is a partnership and
collaborative effort originating between Edina High School and Volunteers of America
Education Center. It is lead by Doug
Eischens, social worker at Edina High School, and Aaron Carper,
director of Volunteers of America SALT Environmental High School.SALT is funded through partnerships with REI of Bloomington, Edina Public Schools, Volunteers of America of Minnesota, Target, IDQ, and the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Minneapolis.

SALT activities in the past seven years have included yearly backpacking trips to the Superior Hiking Trail, Apple Valley Forest Preserve, Vertical Endeavors, Regular School Meetings/Visits, Taylor's Falls, The Creek Valley Environmental Project, Regional YMCA Camps, Dog sledding in Ely, Urban Retreats in the Minneapolis. Newer developments include the addition of a rural connection with Rita Hussman and her "Leave No Trace" program now developing in the Cuyuna Range of Minnesota with students from Crosby-Ironton High School. |

Using high adventure activities,
we teach leadership through service to others.
By building relationships with young people from different backgrounds,
as well as mentors and leaders from the school, community and business world,
